For a low-carbon, resilient and competitive European aluminium industry

European Aluminium, the association representing the aluminium industry in Europe, has published a manifesto highlighting the importance of the sector in contributing to the European Union’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. In the run-up to the European elections in June, the publication calls on political decision-makers to ‘lay the foundations for a resilient, environmentally friendly and globally competitive European aluminium industry, in line with the principles of the European Green Deal’.

To this end, 5 priorities have been identified, including the implementation of a long-term industrial strategy for industries essential to the green transition, competitive energy prices, support for the decarbonisation of industry and the revitalisation of the EU’s trade defence policies.
