Aluminium Dunkerque officially signs its Ecological Transition Contract with the French government

The signature of the Ecological Transition Contracts for the 50 industrial sites with the highest greenhouse gas emissions were signed on 22 November to mark the anniversary of the industrial decarbonisation planning initiative launched by the French President on 8 November 2022.

As part of the regional roll-out of this initiative, the event took place at the 105th Congress of French Mayors and Presidents of Intercommunal Bodies at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre in Paris, in the presence of the Minister Delegate for Industry, Roland Lescure, the Minister Delegate for Local Authorities and Rural Areas, Dominique Faure, and the Minister for Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher.

Guillaume de Goÿs and Roland Lescure signed our Ecological Transition Contract with a view to reducing Aluminium Dunkerque’s emissions by up to 59% by 2030 and between three quarters and all of our direct emissions by 2050.

Of the 50 industrial players represented, four sectors were invited to express their views, and Aluminium Dunkerque presented its roadmap for the Mining and Metallurgy sector. As part of a dialogue with the Minister for Industry, Guillaume de Goÿs was able to share our LowCAL project, which is even more ambitious because it includes our indirect emissions, with the government representatives, elected representatives, industrials and journalists present. Bertrand Ringot, Mayor of Gravelines, and Bruno Jacquemin, General Delegate of the CSF, then spoke respectively on behalf of the region and the Mining and Metallurgy sector. Elisabeth Borne brought the proceedings to a close alongside the industrials and elected representatives who took the floor.

At the same time as this ceremony, our Energy and Climate Director represented Aluminium Dunkerque at the “Je-décarbone” meeting organised on the same day at the Ministry of the Economy.
